We are open!

UPDATED 7/13/20

The Summer Reading Program is a busy time for the library and we have a plan that works best for our community that is safe for library patrons and staff.  “Take Away” bags of crafts and goodies will be available for all school-aged children for the 8 week period June 1st through July 24th.  Just come to the west side entrance or drive thru window to pick up your child’s bag.  There will be special displays inside the library with books and movies that go along with the “Imagine Your Story” theme.

We will not be allowed to hand out food through the #strongertogether outreach for now.  We have hygiene bags and cold water at the west intake table.  We are having the “Very Hungry Reader” children’s food program through the state food bank with meals to go Monday – Friday from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.  This program will run through August 21st.

We are open with limited hours and services.  We are open Monday – Friday from 9:00am to 6:00pm & Saturdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

No AARP Tax Aide, AARP would not allow volunteers to return to the library.

The library will be open for patrons to come in to use the computers (up to 8 at a time) and check out materials (up to 20 at a time).  You may visit the drive thru window for copies, faxing, printing, and any checkouts if you do not feel comfortable, or cannot, come into the building.

We will be allowing patrons to sit and read books or “hang out” for device charging or internet usage inside the library at this time for up to one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon.  The lobby, café, and meeting rooms are open now.   We will also be following the state’s recommendations for public facilities and our plan may change – increase, decrease, or cease services so please make sure you follow the library on social media (Donald W Reynolds Community Center & Library), check the website (www.donaldwreynolds.okpls.org), email (library@durant.org) or call (580-924-3486) with questions or requests.

Staff will be wearing masks when interacting with patrons and the 6 ft social distancing isn’t feasible and there are now plexiglass shields at the circulation desk, drive thru window, and intake table at the west entrance.  Computers will be sanitized after each use.  There is hand sanitizer at the checkout counter and available for both patrons and staff to use after each interaction. The circulation desk and library will be sanitized periodically throughout the day.  Check ins will be sanitized before being shelved.

We will be suspending fines as well as our “one time renewal” policy through June 30.  Any fines from mid-March through the end of June may be waived. This will help those who cannot or choose not to travel. Remember that we have drop boxes on the West side of the building for those who do not wish to come inside the library.

How do I check out books? Thanks!

    • Librarian says

If you have a library card you can come in to check out books. If you do not have a card you can bring your valid photo I.D. and a piece of mail with your Bryan County address on it to get a card. You can look at the online catalog to pick out items and ask that they be put at the drive through window for you to pick up with your library card so you don’t have to leave your vehicle. There are many choices.
